The character Jack tells us his story

BROADWAY LIVE SOUTH:  Thirty-two Second Life residents were treated to a one day, two performance, preview showing of a new play called “Alcohol” at the Broadway Live South Theatre.  The play will be opening at the real life Players Theatre Loft in Greenwich Village, New York on September 11.

Written by Kyle Bradstreet, this one man monologue is acted by James Fauvell (Aajax McMinar in SL).  “Alcohol” is produced by Kronos Kirkorian, a well-known creator of machinima (
http://kronostv.com/Machinima_Links1.html ).  The set is simple, with a wooden chair center stage and a coffee machine with Styrofoam cups.  The back wall of the stage is covered by 4 black/white drawings of individuals done by Kate Fauvell, sister of the star.

The audience meets the character Jack, 27 years old, who says “he’s been lost and alcohol has always been there for him.”  Tonight is his first A.A. meeting.  The characters come to life through Jack’s descriptions, each with their own quirks and their own pain.

Fauvell is mesmerizing in his delivery of the character Jack.  He talks, he jokes, he curses, he sings, he shares anguish and confusion with those listening.

When Fauvell was asked how he liked performing in SL, he said: “I found it’s a little like old time radio.  I got to play with the language much more.  This play has great words to play with.  It was a lot of fun.”

Fauvell has performed in numerous productions, making his debut in Tom Fontana’s “The Day Jack London Got Pinched.”  He is currently filming “Nicolas of Myra” where he has the leading role.  This film is due to be released this December.

Gwenette Writer commented “OMG that was awesome!  You and the writer are superb!”

Tyrol Rimbaud shared “It was so very touching…  I did shed a tear.  It was fascinating how the themes were so subtly presented.  The simplicity of the stage works very well for SL.  The drawings were perfect props.”
