Filthy Fluno will show art gallery visitors a tour of exhibits in Second Life

SUNSET BEACH -- Abstract artist Jeffrey Lipsky, known as Filthy Fluno in Second Life, will bring his art exhibition entitled "The Adventures of Filthy Fluno" to the Revolving Museum in Lowell, Mass. on Sept. 14.

Fluno, whose work was most recently exhibited at the Second Life Community Convention in Chicago last weekend, has traveled with his exhibit to galleries and venues in Porto, Portugal, St. Amand en Puisaye, Burgundy and Barneville-Carteret, Normandy in France, as well as Indianapolis, and Lexington, Mass.

The Sept. 14 show marks the Lowell, Mass. resident's return home on a crazy adventure that started last year when an entrepreneur discovered his work in a virtual art gallery in Second Life.

The artworks in this show are abstract narrative drawings inspired by avatars and places Second Life. Although there are specific references in the imagery of his work, the abstract nature of each piece lets viewers make their own interpretation of each piece.

Fluno will kick off his opening reception at 7 p.m. with a live performance from renowned blues/boogie woogie musician Komuso Tokugawa. Tokugawa will broadcast his raucous guitar stylings and singing into the Revolving Museum through Second Life from his home base in Japan. After the music, Filthy Fluno will lead a live tour into the virtual arts world of of Second Life.

Thousands of artists have been opening galleries in the online virtual reality community of Second Life and it's changing the way artists connect with the world.

In other September art openings, Raspirit Heron, who is Norwegian artist Tone Aanderaa in real life, will show her paintings at Art Sanctuary island in Second Life starting Sept. 2.
Art Sanctuary evolved into a shared vision between Aanderaa, who studied fine arts at Pratt Institute in New York, and SL content creator and scripter WieBenIk Beaumont. Aanderaa's paintings are exhibited throughout the fairytale-like island that includes a Castle of Golden Apples -- a nine story high castle filled with poems and images, Frog Castle, where her more nature-inspired paintings are shown, and Sun Flower House, apple trees and gates and a chariot pulled by sea horses.

The Sept. 2 opening starts at 12 noon and will feature disk jockey Chelle Moore who appeared at the Second Life Community Convention last weekend, and pianist Enniv Zarf who will play music by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. For more information see Art Sactuary's blog.
