MOTERSAFE - The online community, BlogHer, begins its BlogHer '08 Conference in San Francisco this weekend. Their website describes the conference as "featuring technical labs, educational workshops, intense discussion sessions, relevant sponsors, speakers from every corner of the blogosphere, established and new, and plenty of opportunities to network and socialize." Over 10,000 members are currently registered on BlogHer. Users can blog to the BlogHer website, reply to other member's blogs, and list their personal and business blogs in the member directory. The community lists over two dozen topics in the blog directory, everything from education, law, sex and relationships, parenting, body image, finance, cars, food and drink, green awareness, and much, much more. Members are able to find people network with. Yesterday, Michelle Obama, wife of Democratic Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama, made her first blog post to the community. . Here exhibitions can be fround from companies such as CNN, who is also participating in San Francisco. Ohio State University is also sponsoring an interesting exhibit about women and work. Touch the clothes on the clothesline, and the local chat window will display facts such as, "The majority of the world's poor are women, who also comprise the poorest of the poor. Women work two-thirds of the world's working hours. They also produce half of the world's food. The exhibit is being run by Ellie Brewster, who teaches Women's Studies at Ohio State. She has been using SL as one of her classrooms for two years and has only had to cancel one class during this time.
