It seems what it took to translate his vision into SL was applying his RL business practices to the virtual world. “In RL I spend many months tracking down designers I believe have amazing talent and inviting them to showcase on my website. I adopted the same approach to Second Life,” says LeShelle, “Researching and looking for those designers who I thought had amazing vision and skill.” Featured as one of the “Men On Top” in the May issue of Vain Inc., Gabriel has embraced the culture and economy of SL in order to make the most of his transition. Though the planning and executing of his vision has taken over a year and few false starts and frustrations, Gabriel eventually ended up with “an amazing collection of inspirational people” to collaborate with on this project. When asked how he selected the creators and contacts he works with in SL, LeShelle says that he learned of them mostly by reputation but sometimes completely by accident. “Moxie [Palano of Tailor Made] was a pure fluke as she happened to be in the same place as me looking at a Mall for sale and we got to chatting. I mentioned I was looking for a designer in SL and she said come and see my work… I was awestruck!” Creating realistic and beautifully detailed versions of the RL lingerie as well as some originals for SL, the Tailor Made duo of Palano and Forda Fairlane ensured that the quality produced by Carnal SL would meet the high standards of the savvy in-world fashion community and quality-conscious consumers. Failure to do so would have meant imminent ruin for the launch. |
