Second Life has seen its share of mysteries (often on update Wednesdays), but will experience one in a totally new way starting on October 24th when CSI: NY bases an episode here. While a recent Law and Order SVU featured a sleazy fictitious virtual world called "Another You-niverse," CSI: NY will feature the actual branded world we know as Second Life.

CBS Executive Anthony Zuiker, the creator of the CSI franchises, is responsible for bringing CBS and its audience to Second Life. An admitted lifelong gamer, Zuiker seeks to combine his childhood experiences making his own board games with his knack for creating compelling stories. Bringing his audience from the television to the computer, while bringing another audience from the computer to the television is the goal.

“I want to have 16 million people go to first life [to watch the show] and to Second Life," Zuiker said. “That'd really be a lot of fun.”

“My job is to bring as many people to television as possible, but also to do things that are promotable and young,” Zuiker said in a recent

New York Times article, “That’s where my bones are.”

Second Life resident Blaidd Tae said, "I think it's about time they started to incorporate the internet and what happens out here with the shows. It shows that they are receptive to other ideas."

Having a chance to be the person to finally bring Second Life to the mainstream of America, and with it create a synergy between CBS and the biggest of the virtual worlds, could be a coup as well. According to reports, two 30 second advertisements for Second Life will run during the October 24 CSI:NY episode, inviting people to log in to Second Life to interact with the mystery on the show.

During the course of the October show, CSI:NY detective Mac Taylor, played by Gary Sinise, is introduced to Second Life by the younger members of his department. When there's a crime involving the typist for Second Life's most
