Uncovering EarthStones by CeNedra Rivera

EARTHBOUND - SLNN recently sat down to interview Abraxxa Anatine the owner, creator and designer of EarthStones in an effort to get to know the person behind the brand.
Anatine first logged on to Second Life at the end of May 2007. Like many of us, she had no idea what she was getting herself into, she thought maybe if was something for kids, but at the urging of a friend she signed up. Almost as soon as she realized you could create, she started building first home items, then castles then on to skyboxes.
Around this time she shares: “A friend of mine was dabbling in jewellery and that one thing I had a problem with in SL, finding jewellery that was my style, mostly I didn’t wear any.” That was the beginning of EarthStones.
Starting on a borrowed 512 parcel in November with a small inventory, she later moved to a 2048 parcel that was given to her as Christmas gift. EarthStones now not only has it’s own home Sim at EarthBound, but also 30 outlet locations.
When asked if EarthStones always had this same look and feel, the log cabin, Anatine said: “I wanted a nature feel to match the jewellery, and also it’s who I am, if I could have things my way in RL I’d be living in a log home. I love the woods, I love the peaceful feel, being close to nature. There’s a serenity in it and that’s what I wanted to create. It works with the natural stones of course too.”
Many of the EarthStones pieces and most of the outlet locations can instantly be recognized as Anatine's style. This is no accident. She comes from an advertising background and actually specialized in branding and business imaging for a while.
“I know consistency is key, so whenever possible my shops will be easily recognizable,” she shares. It’s important to note that in order to view the entire EarthStones collection and keep up with new releases, and she has recently had two new releases per week, you must visit the home location at EarthBound.
EarthStones is primarily jewellery but also has a variety of accessories, sandals, and other items that fit into the store theme such as wind chimes. If you aren’t familiar with the brand or products, it’s difficult to explain, perhaps it’s best to use Anatine's own words.
