In shock, Eshi Otawara today handed over the last of the Fishook dresses being offered for sale in Second Life at an auction to benefit Relay for Life. The dress, which was won by Kay Fairey, a top model for Premier Modeling Management and fashion reviewer for the upcoming magazine Model Publication, paid a record L$460,000 for the dress. Otawara expressed amazement and emotion at the news. “My eyes are tearing up,” she said. She was astounded that her dress would bid up so high and pleased to offer the proceeds to the Designers in Seclusion team for Relay for Life. The bid pushed them to second place in standings, with a total contribution of L$2,274,334.

Fairey said she bid the dress up so high for a few reasons. First, her mother had recently passed from liver cancer, so the cause was dear to her heart. Secondly, she was bidding alongside her friend Clarabelle Cazalet, and when Cazalet had to step out of the bidding, Fairey was determined to get the dress for her to feature on their new blog and for her friend to wear. Bidding against ZoeAnastasia Aeon, Fairey finally bid the dress to the $460,000L mark to grab the frock for their blog. They will show the frock alongside the Juliet dress, made by Otawara as well and one of five in existence, also owned by Fairey, on their new blog, “The Style File - Clarabelle & Kay's SL Look Book .” Finally, Fairey expressed her high regard for Otawara and her work. “I have always been in awe with Eshi, her creativity, and her uniqueness, the life she's had and that she still keeps on going after so much hardship so it wasn't just a pretty dress for me,” she said. “It meant a lot.” Otawara, who recently unveiled the Rouge sim for Codebastard Redgrave , has been featured in much news about her immigration status to the United States . |
