DR DOBBS ISLAND - Barry Williams visited Second Life today and was interviewed by John Zhaoying of Dr. Dobb’s. Williams, a well known actor, known for many roles, especially the role of oldest teenage son Greg Brady on The Brady Bunch. The TV show popular n the 1970's has had a few more recent special episodes.
The advantages of social networking and blogging were the topic of conversation. Of the 42 residents in the audience, 15 admitted to having active blogs.
“We weren’t trying to create a Brady Bunch fan site,” Williams said of his new blog. “Knowledge of every piece of (Brady) trivia was not that significant. We wanted people to make a pop cultural contribution and to be able to overlay things, coming at it from different points of view. I think we were successful. We have a couple of professors, school teachers and a comedy writer there who are making some nice entries on the blog.”
Williams is sponsoring a new blog, “The Greg Brady Project” Begun late last year, Williams has been entering Brady trivia as well as information about current projects he is working on. A few ads run down the sides: “Barry’s Shop,” where readers can pick up memorabilia and a Time Life advertisement for “The 70’s Music Explosion: 10 CD’s presented by Barry Williams.” Williams, who is not familiar with SL and his avatar (BarryWilliams Alter) was operated by someone else, seemed to enjoy the voice interview and promised to take a look at SL. |
