Despite missing the playoffs, the Cobras’ Rase Kenzo has support of SLHockey fans.

JERICHO HILL - After 10 weeks of battling on ice, SL Hockey’s Playoff contenders will be determined by Sunday’s final regular season games.

The Moose have already locked up a playoff berth, but have to wait to see who their opponent for the Linden Cup will be. The Moose (17 wins – 0 ties – 2 overtime losses – 10 defeats = 53 points) could have secured the top seed for the Linden cup playoffs with a win or tie against the Wolves on Thursday night. But the Wolves proved to have a playoff agenda of their own by defeating the Moose, keeping their own slim playoff hopes alive.

The second place Whales gave themselves a little extra breathing room with an 8 -6 beating of the Cobras. Jato Rolland scored all 8 tallies for the Wolves, who are in the driver’s set for the final playoff berth.

To set the North American Division playoff picture: the Whales will take the top seed by defeating the Moose. If the Whales tie, or lose in overtime, they will advance as the number 2 seed.

The Wolves will be the #2 seed only if the Whales lose in regulation, and the Wolves beat the Cobras.

Dates have yet to be announced for the Linden cup series. The winner will face the European Division champion Ravens for the first Challenge Cup.

The final games feature the Moose facing the Whales Sunday at 1:00pm, with the Wolves and Cobras dueling immediately afterwards.

AUTO RACING

2RAW – Lag issues caused nearly half the field to drop out of Thursday’s Grand Prix hosted by the 777 Racing League.

The track at the 777 complex is billed as the longest in SL; featuring narrow straights with up and down ramps, but turns wide enough to slide thorough. Those two features give the track a feel of racing in a parking garage. Some of the racers in the Grand Prix literally fell off the track on some of the upper levels, but it was unclear how much was attributed to lag, and how much was simply bad driving.

The 2Raw sim completely crashed 4.5 laps into the main event. When rebooted, Michael Bosen was declared the winner, and took home the lion’s share of the L$650 purse. HansLynx was placed second, and JoAnn Sands in 3rd place.

Race host Wilton Beaumont, says the sim will eventually host a fulltime league with championship points. A Gran Turismo race is planner for either Saturday or Sunday morning. Contact Beaumont for more information on races and league information.
