LINDEN VILLAGE--Mark Kingdon, an interactive marketing executive with a strong business background, will take over as Linden Lab's chief executive on May 15, the company announced today. Kingdon, most recently chief executive of the digital communications firm Organic Inc., joined SL as M Linden on April 21. His profile has very little SL info and features a rather amateurish portrait that appears to have been captured in a clothing store, but in the 1st Life tab he describes himself as an "avid traveler" and has posted a photograph taken in India. Reuters reports
|
that he initially joined SL as Marcus Voom, but the resident profile for that name has even less info. The rez day is listed as January 29, 2007 and there's "No Payment Info on File" or profile image. The press release announcing Kingdon's appointment by Linden Lab's board (of which Rosedale remains chairman) says Kingdon has been with Organic since 2001; before that, he worked for the startup incubator firm Idealab!, "providing strategic guidance and operational support to emerging companies." Prior to joining Idealab, he was a partner in the consulting division of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC, where he spent 12 years in various positions. Kingdon is a graduate of UCLA with an MBA from Wharton. “Joining Linden Lab at this moment in its evolution, with so much growth and opportunity on the horizon, is incredibly exciting and I look forward to working with Philip and the Linden Lab team to help Second Life realize its limitless potential,” Kingdon said in the Linden Lab news release. |
