Maitreya meets Iki

GLAM WORLD 2 – It’s business as usual at Maitreya. Known for fabulous shoe, clothing, hair, and animation offerings, Onyx LeShelle and Beauvoir Rousselot (creators for Maitreya) do a consistently bristling business in their store. What shoppers today might not realize is the impending launch of m•a•ii•k•i, the collaborative effort of Maitreya’s designers and Iki Ikarus of Dutch Touch.

The announcement of the new brand just weeks ago was little more than a shiny publicity ad and Ikarus’ brief explanation, “I am so proud to say that all this time I worked on a new project […] with the creators of Maitreya. In the near future we will opening a new brand together called m•a•ii•k•i.” Short on words, the picture spoke volumes and sparked the interest of the fashion-hungry consumers in SL.

“The fashion community loves a good partnership and this is one of the most notable new teams on the horizon. I'll be looking forward to seeing the new releases - and of course, I wish them all much success!” says Gillian Waldman, noted fashion blogger and writer for Second Style magazine.

For Maitreya, this seems to be a natural next step in the evolution of their clothing designs. “The clothes I have made for Maitreya are very casual, but I also have a side that loves the artistic styles you can see on the runway so often,” says Onyx LeShelle.

“I think it has somewhat of that eccentric runway vibe, although it’s still pretty safe,” she says about m•a•ii•k•i. “Puffs and Poofs, that’s where it started. The collection was greatly inspired by Miu Miu’s spring collection, but of course we gave it our own swing.” Combining these two talent’s promises great things, and new directions that depart from the urban grunge of Dutch Touch and the casual elegance of Maitreya. “All the sets contain dresses, although none of them are flexi skirts. It’s a combination of tight feminine dresses and playful puff style dresses with a bunny vibe.”

Somewhat more transformational is the urban grunge style of Dutch Touch to this sleeker more artistic fashion style.
