New Citizens Inc. began in Kuula and it remains a popular location

KUULA -  New Citizens Inc. (NCI) recently celebrated its third birthday of operation.  NCI has become a place where one can use a sandbox to practice building, gather assorted freebies, read the latest news about SL, learn how to build and collect landmarks from other newbie-friendly areas.

Brace Coral began New Citizens Inc. on April 24, 2005 with the goal “Everybody helping newbies.”  Coral stepped down in September 2005 and Carl Metropolitan took over as Director of NCI with Tateru Nino as second-in-command.

Coral had started and funded NCI with her own money but Metropolitan was unable to do that.  He began the avatar account NCI Golem to accept donations and the NCI Land Holdings Group to manage NCI.  Early financial supporters were Coral, Simone Stern, Mera Pixel and Ginny Gremlin.  It is a non-profit group entirely resident-run and resident financed.

NCI began on a small 512 sq. m. plot in Kuula (

NCI also operates ten InfoNodes, which are small NCI units placed near or directly adjacent to LL InfoHubs and other areas for lots of new resident traffic.  These are self-service information centers and are on land that is donated, rented or owned by NCI.  Currently InfoNodes exist near the Ambat, Bear, Braunsworth, Hanson, Hyles, Iris (Moth Temple), Mahulu, Ross and Warmouth LL InfoHubs as well as one in the Muse Village area of Al Tang.
