ELYSEUM - Last year, the Gustave Roussy cancerology institute in France gathered 126 famous women in their campaign to fight  breast cancer. This year, they will arrange ”Pink For Life” starting on the 1st of October. Parts of it will be arranged in Second Life, and they’re looking for Second Life content creators to  help.

The SL portion of the event will be organized in two phases. First, an SL exhibition of items and creations from in-world designers. Second, an eBay auction of these items to raise money for cancer research.

Items will be sorted in four categories: furniture, clothes, accessories and  miscellaneous. A maximum of 20 objects will be shown and sold in each category. All items and artistic creations must share a common point. Pink will have to be the dominant color.

A firm called ConceptSL is responsible for organizing the SL part.

"We were contacted a few weeks ago,” Yogi Huldschinsky of ConceptSL said. "The institute was looking for a way to promote their campaign, and we offered them to relay the event on Second Life. They had heard about SL, but didn’t really know what it was about, so we gave them a quick tour. They saw it was a good way to present their campaign internationally.”

Huldschinsky said ConceptSL are personally engaged in the cause, as some of the staff members have been affected by breast cancer in the past. "We really wanted to give them a hand.”

ConceptsSL mixes real life with Second Life. Part of the campaign will be the recreation of RL fashion designers’ work in SL. "We work with luxury brands and fashion designers who have donated objects and items for the RL exhibition to reproduce and expose them,” Huldschinsky said.

He’s of the opinion that the SL community is actively involved in non-profit causes. "We contacted people from the American Cancer Society who taking care of the Relay for Life event. They were really glad that we were setting up such an event too. I met one of them last week, and we had a good talk,” Huldschinsky said.

The exhibition hall will open in the Elyseum sim on the 1st of October. Those who would you like to contribute can send pictures of creations by email to fashion@conceptsl.com before September 20. The SL contributions will be exhibited together with the recreations of the RL contributions.

And if you live in or nearby Paris: The RL exhibition will take place October 9th–10th on Champs Elysées, in the art gallery of Hotel Dassault-Artcurial.
