A less-powerful weapon which works within a single sim is still out there, and the source says that PN intends to use it tonight to take down as many sims (islands within the Second Life grid) as possible. This weapon, known as the "Doomsday Gun," shoots 343 bullets at once, each of which is 31 prims of highly distorted ring shapes. This sudden explosion of 10,633 prims colliding into one another not only crashes the sim but also overloads the sim with prims forcing the serve to delete random objects. For this reason, using the Doomsday Gun can result in the destruction of buildings and other infrastructure. Residents are urged by our well-placed source to temporarily edit any land they own, turning off collisions, public building, and object entry. This should neutralize the ability to use the Doomsday Gun. Our source indicates that PN intend to try a large-scale attack with their Doomsday Guns between 4 and 6 PM SLT tonight (Saturday). SLNN will continue to follow this story as it develops. UPDATE 6:41 PM - Word coming in of attempted attacks on Sandbox Island, the Aeon sims, and Luskwood. No reports of sim failures yet though. Apparently defective Doomsday Guns were used, causing no small embarassment for the griefer, who then unleashed a particle attack. |
