The Red Room At Honeybeach - Jax Streeter came into Second Life with a knowledge of marketing and a love of the entertainment business. He is rapidly building a reputation for providing good entertainment in Second Life as the the frontman for Jax Streeter Band and his entertainment group, Streeter Nation Entertainment. He has a big enough fan base to have his own stage and a multi-room parcel appropriately named Streeter Nation Headquarters. Though this scenario appears the picture of success, Streeter still saw a hole in the Second Life entertainment market that he intended to fill. Thusly born was The Red Room, a venue where entertainment professionals of Second Life can go to network amongst themselves. The Red Room has been unoffically open since Friday, and the word is quickly spreading. "Although it is new, artists, writers, venue owners, staff, have already begun coming and enjoying," Streeter said. "They come here and meet others with like interests, accomplishments and ambitions. [They]share ideas, form partnerships etc."

This is a good sign for Streeter's venue. Truly a venue by professionals for professionals and about professionals, The Red Room is closed to the general public. When asked what would happen when the general public starts strolling in, Streeter laughed. He said, "That would mean the word is out and the concept successful. It's a pleasant bridge to cross." The Grand Opening of the Red Room took place on Wednesday evening. The event was an art exhibition featuring the photography of Cienega Soon. Soon is well-known in SL for her photography; she is currently competing in the SLArtist Idol photographer's contest. Soon also belongs to several SL Artist groups, maintains a Flickr page with her work, and is involved in several other creative pursuits. Soon is the owner of Castle Valeriya Artist Gallery, where she showcases her work. The Red Room Grand Opening exhibition featured Soon's new collection, Light Scapes. Soon made the stills on an old HP digital camera. She says the camera isn't good for taking regular pictures because it's so old everything comes out blurry. However, the blurriness of that camera's images creates the perfect movement in light |
