THE CANNERY - Claudia Mantis may be just one avi in a sea of thousands of Relay For Life participants, but a deeper look reveals deep dedication and staunch commitment to a cause that has become the backbone of  the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) battle with cancer.

Mantis is a member of the Relay Raiders Team of Relay for Life, and has taken it upon herself to organize a photo expo that promises to not only be stimulating and entertaining, but is certain to add even more Lindens to what is already a record-breaking year for the S Relay for Life effort.

“Last year I wasn’t on a team,"  Mantis said, “I just paid donation boxes and wanted more than that.  So, I got to sign up with this team, The Relay Raiders, which my friend Haroldthe Burrel was running.”

This year, Mantis decided to do even more.

“I wanted to organize an event for the team,” she said, explaining that her fondness for SL photo art prompted her to organize a photo expo, SLart at The Cannery (brought to you by Rezzable).

“It's an event for Relay for Life where SL photo artists will have a chance to show their work,” she said. “Also, themed photos will be made especially for Relay for Life, and those will be sold at auction.”

Participating photographers will contribute a mere L$1000 for the privilege of displaying their work at the expo.

“There will also be live music, an awareness section, and a vendor section,” she said. “I’m going to try to get it filled for daily live music, and I will get speakers from the Relay for Life who will talk about the relay, the ACS and cancer.”
