SUNSET BEACH -- A source recently disclosed that the UK act, Snow Patrol, has acquired an island within Second Life and that the band, Gary Lightbody, Paul Wilson, Jonny Quinn, Nathan Connolly and Tom Simpson, hope to host virtual concerts there in future.
These plans may be delayed by the band's forthcoming tour. Snow Patrol is flying to Australia this week for three shows between Feb.17-20. The band visits New Zealand Feb. 22 and will arrive in the United States on Feb. 26 for a two month tour.
An SLNN informant said: "Yes, many of the band members are tech-savvy, and one of the members has acquired an island in Second Life where they hope to host virtual gigs in future." The news was learned today when the band was rehearsing for tonight's Brit Awards in London. The band have been nominated for three awards, including best album for "Eyes Open" and "Best British Group."
No additional information is available at this time, but with Snow Patrol's song, "Chasing Cars," selling over one and a half million units in the United Kingdom and another million in the United States, they are likely to make an impression when the band starts building its island. |
