Holly Klaxon, Tigerlily Koi and Katoria Stevenson at Calla

CALLA LILY - Well-known hair emporium, Calla, has been undergoing some changes recently, with its two designers now setting up independent shops; Tigerlily Koi taking charge of Calla, while Haedon Quine moved on to Tousled. The next big change is starting for Calla, as it moves to its new location on Calla Lily. and SLNN spoke to Tigerlily about the changes.

The new store has a distinctly Southern feel to it, which is no surprise given that Tigerlily is a Southern Belle herself, and so the new store comes with all the warmth and welcome you'd expect. "I want it to be a cozy, Southern hospitality kind of feel," she said.

The store itself was built by Holly Klaxon, a clearly skilled builder in SL, "Holly was recommended to me by a friend, she'd been working on a project elsewhere. Once I talked to her a little bit, and saw how similar our ideas were, there was no question that she'd do an amazing job".

It's clear that Klaxon has brought to life Koi's vision, with warm wooden floors, wide open spaces and sweeping staircases. Asked about how she sees things changing with the new store, she told us, "The biggest change is being able to put myself into it completely. The build is so expressive of me personally, and I'll be able to do a lot more expressing my own sense of style."

One of the main features of the new store will be it's new vendor system, created by long time scripter Katoria Stevenson. Most residents have at some point experienced the frustration of making purchases, only to find nothing is delivered, which then means tracking back through our transaction logs, copying the details into a notecard to send to the creator and waiting for the missing items to be forwarded.

The new vendor system cuts out all of this hardship; if an item is not delivered, the unfortunate shopper simply needs to go to the front desk, and with a click, will have the items automatically redelivered, without the hassle of searching transactions and sending notecards.

The system also means fewer headaches for the retailer. "It's very frustrating on both sides, so hopefully this will make shopping a much more pleasant experience." said Koi. "With the new vendor and redelivery system, I'll be doing a lot less paperwork, so I'll have more time to spend creating, and I'll be able to get back to sitting around here and chatting with customers."
