The Sojourner
DREAMS: Disability leader The Sojourner (Soj) has passed away in real life from cardiac arrest on May 25, 2008. The Second Life community mourns the loss of a lovely and caring person who touched innumerable people. A memorial has been set up at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dreams/113/62/25 and a wiki memorial at http://tributetothesojourner.wikispaces.com/
A service will be held in SL to coincide with the real life service being held beside Lake Erie. The time of service is not known at press time, but further information can be acquired by contacting minxeh Volos directly.
Soj, together with Rick Kent, Amalthea Blanc and a few others started the group Dreams in July of 2005 to accomplish a number of dreams: • To provide a base for creative interaction among people in SL • To provide an area for teaching, holding discussions and holding events • To provide a support base for people who encounter strokes (brain attacks) in their own lives or in the lives of their loved ones.
A survivor of multiple strokes, Soj created and ran the Dreams group where other stroke survivors, family and friends could come together into an online community. The Dream Travelers group currently has 246 members.
The memorial service for Soj will be held at 8 am SL Time on the Dreams sim on June 7.
Not only was The Sojourner active in helping stroke survivors re-engage with life, she also gave countless people their first real introduction to SL with her courses.
The Dreams sim was one of the friendliest places to hang out in SL. There was always somebody there to talk to. That's how I met Soj, at her first community fair. She had a genius for bringing people together and making creative things happen. Her contests, whether building the best tree fort, waterfall, haunted house or Mardi Gras float, were always fun and popular.
Good bye, Soj.

I can google you See your laughing eyes Hear your experiences Share your thoughts
I can go to your electronic home And see it just as you left it No tell tale dust to give you away
You could still be here Until all the caches are cleared And the servers reset
But somehow the pixels lie flat on my screen The web pages are suddenly history, A record of a beautiful life And I find myself reading and re-reading Testimonials from others Who feel like I do Now that
